Guardian of African Wisdom
1921 – 2020 • Zulu Sangoma • Author • Artist • High Sanusi
“I became a man who is no longer human — I became a living library of the African people.”
— Vusamazulu Credo Mutwa
Naledi-Africa holds a special place in South African cultural history. The renowned Zulu sangoma, author, artist, and custodian of African oral tradition — Vusamazulu Credo Mutwa — lived on this very property for over a decade.
During his time here, he built one of only two cultural villages he created with his own hands, leaving behind a deep spiritual imprint on the land that guests still remark upon today.
Mutwa's legacy endures not only in the structures he built but in the stories he told, the knowledge he preserved, and the countless lives he touched — from world leaders to spiritual seekers who traveled across continents to meet him.
Vusamazulu Credo Mutwa lived on the Naledi-Africa property for over a decade, building one of only two cultural villages he created entirely with his own hands.

A visionary artist who created traditional dwellings, human and mythological sculptures, bringing African folklore and beliefs to life.
Officially proclaimed High Witch Doctor (High Sanusi) in 1963, Mutwa achieved the status of isanusi — a Zulu diviner carrying ancient healing knowledge.
